    Knorr and Mexican Food

Pasilla Sauce is one of the many great Knorr Sauces. For Knorr, food has a special meaning beyond feeding and nourishing the body: its meaning goes back through time to traditions and generates a wealth of emotions.

It's a challenge for any product to become part of Mexico's culinary tradition, and Knorr has proudly achieved it, turning into a brand that is widely recognized by Mexican cooks for providing quality products that enhance the flavor of any kind of dish.

    A bit of Knorr History

It is difficult to think of somebody in Mexico who isn't familiar with Knorr Suiza, a brand that has been a part of Mexican cooking for generations. The brand itself goes back to the city of Heilbronn in Germany, it is there that Carl Heinrich Knorr realized that, with advances in industry, the need to have nutritious, fast, easy to prepare meals was growing.

  • In 1938, in cooperation with nutrition experts, the investigation and development of dehydrated vegetables and seasonings begins. Finally, a method to preserve the nutritional value and flavor of ingredients is developed, reducing preparation time. This knowledge was the basis for dehydrated soups.

  • Finaly, in 1873, the Knorr company begins to sell its products in food stores.

  • In 1958, Knorr Gmbh is acquired by CPC International Inc, the predecessor of Bestfoods, which is now itself part of Unilever.

  • In 1961, the Knorr Suiza brand is launched in Mexico under the concept of "Giant cubes of real chicken broth". That is how "The brand with Swiss quality" is presented in Mexico, seeking to connect immediately with consumers, presenting a formula that contains the typical ingredients in a good chicken broth.

  • It is no coincidence that today Knorr is one of the most traditional and well known brands in the Mexican market. Its history in the country goes back more than 40 years.

Knorr and it's wide product variety

Parting from the basis of helping consumers have a better experience throughout the entire process of preparing, enjoying and sharing, products have been developed, like the dehydrated soup line in 1985, giving consumers a practical solution without sacrificing flavor, just as Carl Heinrich Knorr envisioned when he started his company.

    1982
  • The Knorr line of Dishes was launched to the market. Knorr dishes are mixes of dehydrated ingredients that allow the preparation of delicious meals in a fast and convenient way, by adding fresh meat and/or pasta. The varieties include Chipotle, Bolognesa, Hamburger, Picadillo(Mexican style ground beef), Pollo a la Reina(Queen style Chicken) and Adobo.

  • 1985
  • Knorr launches the Knorr Soups line, consisting in dried pasta in an envelope in various ready to prepare flavors.

  • 1992
  • Knorr launches Caldillo de Tomate Rojo as the first of its "ready to use" line, using the most modern technology available.

  • 1996
  • Knorr presents its line of Chili Guajillo, Chipotle and Pasilla ready to use sauces.
  • That same year Knorr revolutionizes the mole market by launching ready to use mole sauce using tetra-pack technology. The products include Mole Poblano, Pipian and Adobo.

  • 2002
  • Knorr launches more varieties of dried soups, Coditos with Chili Poblano and Pasta with Tomato.
  • Ready to use creams in tetra-packs are also launched, consisting of Cheese, Corn, Mushroom, Tomato and Bean creams.

  • 2004
  • Knorr gives the Pasta Soup line a new twist, launching the Sopas Mexicanas (Mexican Soups) Line, using 100% natural vegetables and pasta.
  • Knorr also launches the new line of Knorr Creams in envelopes, containing 100% natural vegetable bits.
  • Knorr Costilla Jugosa beef boullion line is launched.

  • 2005
  • The Gallina Sustanciosa chicken bouillion line is launched in order to give consumers new options.
  • Knorr launches the Seasoned Tomato and Chipotle Tomato bouillion lines.

  • 2006
  • En 2006, Knorr Soups introduces new varieties of creams, such as asparagus, cheese, tomato and bean, as well as expanding the mexican soups line with such products as Caldo de Gallina, Sopa Mestiza and Sopa de Res.
  • Knorr also launched Sopas de la Huerta, the only soups with a combination of 6 100% natural vegetables, with no preservatives or artificial flavorings.

  • Salsa Pasilla Knorr
